Get The Look – Nina Dobrev in Seventeen Magazine
A few days ago Fanatic Ally contacted me asking about Nina Dobrev’s nails in the April edition of Seventeen Magazine. Since I’m not a subscriber (I’m a little beyond Seventeen’s demo) I haven’t seen the issue but I was able to find some pics online. Needless to say, I pleasantly surprised to see a cover girl sporting GREEN nails!
The reason for Ally’s email is that in the magazine, you can clearly see that Nina’s nails were covered with chunky, random glitter yet the magazine recommended OPI Bling Dynasty to get the look. Any of you who own Bling Dynasty know that it’s a shimmering, opaque micro-glitter. So how was Nina’s look achieved? Oscar Nail Watch 2010 – Deborah Ann Woll
I wasn’t quite sure why True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll was at the Oscars but I couldn’t help but get excited over her grayed purple nails. It complimented her gown well though I’m not sure it worked with her hair and lip color. It’s almost like we’re seeing two different looks from the head up and head down.

MAC Blue India & Vestral White from Give Me Liberty of London
A couple months ago I flipped over the promo pics of the new MAC Give Me Liberty of London nail polish Blue India and it more than lived up to the hype. Known for their iconic collaborations with labels like Comme de Garcons, Liberty of London has teamed up with MAC to create a makeup collection that brings the brand’s prints to life.
The packaging which is based on William Morris’s Strawberry Theif print from 1883 is a makeup collector’s dream come true. I’m one of those people who hoards all of MAC’s specialty packaging. I have a drawer filled with boxes from the Barbie, Heatherette, Hello Kitty, Fafi, Viva Glam etc. I’ll even buy colors that won’t work for me because I’m a sucker for great packaging. Oscar Nail Watch 2010 – Sandy Powell
Even though she came off a bit smug when she accepted her award, Costume Designer Sandy Powell caught my attention with those teal green talons. They totally threw me for a loop when she appeared on screen. Yay for green polish at the Oscars. Maybe she’ll help influence some celebs to take that risk. Hey, I can hope right?
I thought the color paired really well with her outfit even though I don’t love the dress. And her nail length is too long for my taste but I can’t hate on a girl that loves green polish.
What color would you use to recreate Sandy’s look? I’m thinking either Nubar Earth or Conserve from the Going Green collection might work. What say you?
