Being a Midwest girl that never saw the California coast until a few years ago, the Cali surf culture brings up flashes of Gidget, Frankie & Annette flicks, The Beach Boys and Dick Dale’s “Misirlou” which any Pulp Fiction fan would recognize. I’m sure that’s not at ALL what Proenza Schouler had in mind when they created their Spring ’10 collection. They envisioned a much hipper surf girl. One that can ride the big waves with the best of them, then slip on a chic, colorful dress and party all night. It’s the modern surfer girl that inspired Ji Baek’s Spring collection for Rescue Beauty Lounge. |
Mannequin Hands with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Uber
Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.
It’s week two of the Mannequin Hands series and today we have Aina from Lacquerholic showing off her manicure. Aina is a MAC NC 43-45 and she chose Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Uber for her mannequin hands look. This is what she has to say about it,
“I really like this shade because even in this day and age, it’s hard to find a good nude that doesn’t look too pale on darker skin. I have so many failed attempts to find a great nude polish, but I think Uber is just about perfect for me!”
Even though it’s not my mannequin hands shade, I’m diggin’ Uber. What say you? Have you found a hand twin in Aina?

Jess31570 is sharing her “Mannequin Hands” today using L’oreal Sand Castle. To really make the look she added Essie Matte About You top coat. Based on the pics, it’s a perfect match for her skin tone which she describes as “tan”.

Playing With The Queen of Hearts
It’s time for another frankenpolish inspired by the OPI Alice In Wonderland collection. I was so happy with how my Cheshire Cat franken turned out that I just had to try to make my idea of a white polish with red glitter come to life.
With the Queen of Hearts as my muse, I mixed up what I’m calling “Playing With The Queen of Hearts”. The song was running through my head while I was mixing/applying it so it seemed a perfect fit. Though I’m not sure I’m entirely in love with the color so I’d love your thoughts. Check it out after the jump! |
