NEW Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Shades – Swatches & Review
I’m not gonna lie, when the first set of Sally Hansen Sugar Coat textured nail polishes released, I wasn’t that jazzed. The color palette was very basic; white, black, red, yellow, pink, etc. With the exception of a green (Sour Apple) and blue (Razzle-berry), they didn’t speak to me.
However, Sally Hansen has released a second set of Sugar Coat shades that include some more “me” colors, including some glitter textures.
If you know me at all, you know that blue, purple and teal are so in my wheelhouse and that the sparkly texture polishes are my jam, so I had a lot of fun playing with these new colors. In fact, I came up with a layering combination so gorgeous that I dare even the texture haters to dismiss it.

File Under: Are We Really Doing This? – Cuticle Tattoos
When it comes to nail adornment, I’ve seen a lot of “unique” things. Remember nail piercings (which apparently Kylie Jenner is trying to bring back from the ’80s)? Or that nail ring I spotted on Kim Kardashian at NYFW? What about nail polish AS rings, like the ones butter LONDON created for Vena Cava.
More recently, Karl Lagerfeld took the knuckle ring craze up a level when he created nail bands for the Chanel F/W 2013/14 Haute Couture runway. I can barely keep knuckle rings from slipping off my fingers. How in the WORLD do you function wearing those?
Now, RAD Nails has upped the nail art ante with the introduction of Cuticle Tattoos. As if the nail bed wasn’t canvas enough, they are moving design to the skin and cuticle with their line of water decals. With four shapes to choose from, including black and red drips (not shown), the decals can be worn on the skin or nail itself. There’s a great example with the drips on NaitItMag.com.
I’ve used water decals in the past, mainly Cleveland Browns-themed ones for games (Go Browns!), but wearing them on my cuticle is probably a bit much for my taste.
What say you? Would you try these? Are we, as a nail community, really doing this??
RAD Nails Cuticle Tattoos retail for $6/ea for a set of 12 decals. Available at RADNails.com.
Coming Soon – Deborah Lippmann at Sephora with an Exclusive Collection
Well it’s about time! Sephora will continue the expansion of its nail polish offerings with the launch of the Deborah Lippmann line at 300 Sephora stores and on Sephora.com this September.
DL was so accessible when it was carried at Bath & Body Works, many moons ago, and while I’m lucky enough to have a Nordstrom nearby, that’s not the case for everyone. This new partnership will introduce Deborah Lippmann’s creations to a whole new audience.
To celebrate, Deb created an exclusive collection of nail colors, just for Sephora.
Deborah Lippmann Lilac Win, Chasing Pavements and She Bop will retail for $17/ea. The glittery 99 Luftballoons for $19/ea.
If you haven’t tried the brand before, here are some of my favorite shades. Top row: Don’t Tell Mama, Waking Up In Vegas, Today Was A Fairytale (glitter top coat). Middle Row: Do The Mermaid, Across The Universe, Mermaid’s Kiss. Bottom Row: I Know What Boys Like, Billionaire.
What are your favorite Deborah Lippmann shades? Which colors from the Sephora-exclusive collection do you plan to check out?
Essie Summer 2013 “Naughty Nautical” Swatches & Review
I know once August hits we’re supposed to be all about fall color but, I’m sorry, I’m not ready to give up on summer just yet. Not as long as I can still wear flip-flops and have one last weekend on the parents’ boat in my future. That’s why I’m jazzed about the Essie Summer 2013 “Naughty Nautical” collection.
The colors and names speak to my nauti-loving heart. Makes me want to wear stripes, boat shoes and rope bracelets, like the ones from Kiel James Patrick. As a whole, this collection screams summer but there are three shades in particular that stood up and said, “love me!” And I do!
