PinspiratioNAIL – Spun Sugar Nail Art with Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel
During the TV slump that occurs every year between the season finales and the start of my fave summer guilty pleasure, Big Brother, I find myself aimlessly channel surfing on my nights home. A couple weeks ago I hit on The American Baking Competition, featuring a self-proclaimed “redneck” named Francine firing off gems like, “it’s slap your mama good!” I couldn’t resist.
During one of the episodes, the competitors were challenged with making croquembouche, a tower of creme puffs (or choux) held together with threads of caramelized sugar. It made me think of the spun sugar nail art designs I’ve been eyeing on Pinterest. Using the new Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel, I decided to give the look a try.
NARS Fury and Galathée Nail Polish for Fall 2013 Swatches & Review
Where my fall and winter wardrobe is concerned, no colors dominate my closet more than purple and grey. No matter what the trend may be each year, they remain my staple shades. From my beloved purple Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B. (scored on Gilt) to my kitten-soft grey sweater dress, it’s a color combination that I just can’t quit. That’s why, when I laid eyes on the NARS Fall 2013 color palette for nails, I was hooked!
The theme of Founder and Creative Director François Nars’ collection is rich color impact in signature NARS shades. Well, if the nail colors are any indication, he certainly delivered.

Sunday Funday – A Long Time Ago, We Used To Be Friends…
My fellow Marshmallows, of course you know what that line means but, for those of you not in the know, it’s the opening lyric to the theme song from one of the best television shows of all time, Veronica Mars. And when I say, “one of the best,” I’m not being facetious.
This extremely clever, finely crafted show about a modern day Nancy Drew, played marvelously by Kristen Bell, is one of the few shows I can watch over and over without ever tiring. And I do, every weekday, on SoapNet. I mourned the loss of VM after following it from UPN to The CW and gave up hope of ever knowing whether Veronica and sexy, brooding Logan would ever reconcile.
However, thanks to Kickstarter and the 91,000+ fans (myself included) who donated to fund the project, I’ll finally get my answers (I hope). Coming in 2014 is the Veronica Mars Movie.
They just wrapped shooting and shared a first look at the project last weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. I’ve already watched it more times than I care to admit and I continue to tear up every time Kristen says, “Here’s your first look, Marshmallows!”
So, the guys, all wet and walking in slow-mo. The only thing that can make that better is if they break out in dance. Or if it’s a dream sequence and they go all Magic Mike on V.
So how many Marshmallows are also nail polish fanatics? Are you a fellow Kickstarter backer? Am I alone in wanting a Veronica Mars themed nail polish line?
Throwback Thursday – Zoya Diva Fall 2012 Nail Polish Swatches & Review
With all the new fall collections launching, I keep thinking that it won’t be long before I’m pulling out boots and sweaters. I love fall weather but I hate the snow and cold that so quickly follows it. So, before I launch into reviewing everything that’s new, I thought it would be fun to use this #ThrowbackThursday to look back at the Zoya Diva Fall 2012 collection.
One of the many things I love about Zoya is that, for the most part, their seasonal collections aren’t limited edition. They may not be readily available in stores but you can still find them on Zoya.com. Such is the case with the NYFW-inspired Diva collection. With purple and blue gaining traction as on-trend hues for Fall 2013, the collection is just as relevant this year.

CND VINYLUX Weekly Nail Polish Review & Swatches
As nail polish fanatics we are on a never-ending quest for that holy grail combination of base coat, polish and top coat that will give us extended wear and high gloss shine with a quick dry time and no staining (Smurf fingers begone). Nail industry innovator, CND, is attempting to solve that riddle with the introduction of CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish.
A new take on the traditional nail polish process, the CND VINYLUX system consists solely of nail polish and top coat, no base coat required. It also claims to deliver a stain-free product that dries in 8 & 1/2 minutes flat, with a full week of wear thanks to a top coat that gets stronger when exposed to natural UV light, no lamps required. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?
