Nail Tip – The Glitter Polish “Dab, Dip & Glide” Tutorial
Chunky glitter nail polish is both a pleasure and a pain. What looks like a party in a bottle can be a total bummer to work with if you approach it like a traditional lacquer. Recently, I’ve had a few friends and readers ask me about the best way to apply glitters, complaining of lumpy, bumpy results.
What better way to explain my “dab, dip & glide” technique than to show you. Check out my quick & dirty nail tutorial with the new Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots color, Blue Marks The Spot.
The Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots limited edition colors officially launch in July 2013 but are already popping up on store shelves. Maybelline nail polish retails for $3.99/ea and a full review is in the works.

Bye Bye Google Reader, Hello Bloglovin!
Happy Monday Fanatics! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent mine around the house, enjoying time on our deck, grilling out and helping supervising the boyfriend smoke ribs for Father’s Day at my parents’ house.
If you’re a longtime user of Google Reader, like I am, I have no doubt the news about Google discontinuing the service came as quite a shock followed by major disappointment. Since the announcement a couple months ago, I’ve been testing different options that would allow me to read my favorite sites on my desktop, tablet and phone (I’m #TeamAndroid but not anti-Apple).
I’ve finally settled on Bloglovin as my reader of choice and wanted to share that as my favorite option for those of you forced off Google Reader. And Google Friend Connect users, get prepared to be next.
To make life easier, Bloglovin can import your Google Reader list (CLICK HERE) and it opens blog posts on the actual blog so you can comment AND continue paging through your blog list. So genius. Plus there are apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
So make sure you can still get your ALU fix come July when Google Reader says goodbye. Follow All Lacquered Up on Bloglovin. Or if, you just can’t quit Google, ALU is on Google+ as well.
PinspiratioNAIL – Sea Glass Watercolor Nail Art with Sally Hansen
Since I work from home, daytime TV is my background noise and one of my can’t miss morning shows is the Today Show “Drunk Hour” (aka KLG & Hoda). I’m not gonna lie, Kathie Lee bugs the crap out of me some days and, when I first started watching, I thought for sure that Hoda would slap her someday. They’ve grown on me over the years and now I just roll my eyes at Kathie Lee like she’s a batty aunt.
Anyway, the point is, every day is something different on the show; Wine-sday (Wednesday), Thirsty Thursday, etc. and today happens to be Try-day Friday, when they try something new. This morning it was chocolate babka, yum!! It’s in honor of that concept that this PinspiratioNAIL was born.
If you recall, PinspiratioNAIL is my riff on a look I find on Pinterest. Today I wanted to attempt a new-to-me technique, Watercolor Nail Art (or Marble Nails). The name is open to interpretation. Anyway, I’ve seen a few different tutorials on how to create the watercolor look but, given my amateur skills, I wanted the simplest possible method. For my sake and yours. Check it out!

Nail It! – A Magazine for Nail Fanatics (And I’m In It!)
Have you ever perused the magazine aisle at a drugstore and noticed that there are a sea of hairstyle magazines but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, about nails? Well those days are over, people. The brains behind NAILPRO are filling that need with the recently launched Nail It! Magazine.
Oh and bonus, I’m featured in the July/August issue. Nail It! EIC Stephanie Yaggy-Lavery interviewed me about my favorite products, brands and nail trends. Such a thrill!
The magazine focuses on color trends, celebrity nails, nail art (including tutorials) and incorporates beauty and fashion seamlessly into the mix. On top of all that, they are really incorporating bloggers by featuring their nail art and promoting their blogs both in the magazine and on their companion website NailItMag.com.
So head on out and pick up a copy at your local newsstand or save money and subscribe. Visit NailItMag.com/Subscribe or WheresMyMagazine.com to find a local retailer.
Have you seen Nail It! in stores ? Are you a subscriber? What’s your favorite feature in the magazine?
